Web 2.0 Challenge - Week 3 (InfoPeople Things 4, 5,& 6)

Creating a Flickr account was easy and I even figured out how to upload one of my photos, but I didn't write down my login and password information and when I went back days later I could not find one of the usual suspects that worked so I had to create a new account. After this minor glitch, I had fun being amazed at the number of photos in one place! Working with photos is one of my biggest challenges. It has taken me forever to figure out how to take a Flickr photo and post it on my blog!! But I have finally succeeded in linking my Blogger account to my Flickr account and I now know how to Blog This with public photos to post a picture I find to my blog! Through Flickr, I learned that the small rural branch library where I began as a Library Assistant in the 1980's is getting a new building so I chose to post this Flickr photo as a reminder of my roots.

In my examination of Flickr mashups, I had a lot of fun with Spell With Flickr and decided to post one of my creations since it is baseball season and my team is in a pennant race!

I visited some of the libraries noted for using Web 2 technology. Denver's podcasts seem like an effective way to get more mileage out of the work of putting together programs. And Seattle's MySpace Teen Center is interesting. I would really like to know the statistics on how much such efforts are being used by the public. Do teens want to hang out with their library on line or their friends?? Just wondering.

Recapping this week, I think Flickr is one of the more interesting sites that I have become acquainted with so far. I can even see reference applications for a site like this.

Sandy--Nice post! I love your Padres flickrspell. It was great to see your library roots, as well. Now I have to go back and see what I find of mine. Thanks, Elizabeth
